API Of The Month

I’m not really going to do an API of the month every month… but I did want to briefly mention this fantastic data source: They Vote For You. It contains data on Australian politicians, what they’ve voted for in parliament, and what policies they support / don’t support. You can query by policy, or by politician. It’s entirely free, run by a not-for-profit organisation.

On a similar note, I’ve started putting together a python script to pull out ngrams out of the Australian Hansard. The aim is to get this data into a MongoDB collection, and make it available via API. I’ll put the source code up on github once I’ve finished.

How fantastic is democratic transparency! Onwards.
